Soccer Blog - Week 5

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another blogpost of Super Soccer Ian. We had another exciting week, full of late goals in games! Three game winners and one equalizer! Let's take a look at the results of Week 4.

Week 4 Results

The first game of the round was a 2-2 draw between DC United and the Chicago Fire. Then,  the Philadelphia Union and Montréal Impact tied 1-1.  One of the late winners was scored by Sporting KC in their 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids. The Vancouver Whitecaps won 2-1 over the Houston Dynamo, and FC Dallas won 2-1 over the Portland Timbers. Real Salt Lake had a huge 3-0 victory over Toronto FC, and the Seattle Sounders lost late at home 2-1. The SJ Earthquakes lost late at home
to the NE Revolution 2-1, and the NY Red Bulls tied the game up late at home 1-1 against Chivas USA. Those were the results of the last games. Now, let's take a look at upcoming matches.

Upcoming Schedule

In Week 5, only one team has a bye, and that's the SJ Earthquakes. The round will start off with a Cascadia Rivalry matchup between the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders. Then, the Montréal Impact will travel to play the NY Red Bulls, and the Chicago Fire will host the Philadelphia Union. The undefeated Columbus Crew will host Toronto FC, and the Colorado Rapids will travel to play the Vancouver Whitecaps. DC United will host the NE Revolution, and the Texas Derby will take place in Houston, when the Dynamo battle FC Dallas. Sporting KC will host Real Salt Lake, which will be just like the 2013 MLS Cup Final, and the SuperClasico will happen at the StubHub Center, with Chivas USA hosting the LA Galaxy. Those are the upcoming matches, and now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips for this upcoming round.

MLS Fantasy Tips

In Week 5, there appear to be some pretty good opportunities for you to get some players that can rack you up points. In the Cascadia Derby, players that are considerable are Gastón Fernández, Will Johnson, or Darlington Nagbe. On Seattle, you could consider Kenny Cooper, Leo Gonzalez, or Obafemi Martins. One player that I definitely recommend that you get on your team is Federico Higuaín. He's had impressive performances this last round, and at home, I think that he can get you lots of points. Another player to consider would be Vicente Sánchez on the Colorado Rapids. He's scored four goals already this season, and if there's a penalty kick awarded to Colorado, he'll be the man to take it. This week may also be the week for Diego Fagundez to shine. While he hasn't scored yet this season, the Revs are traveling to play DC United, who still haven't found their defensive form  quite yet. Aurélien Collin wouldn't be a bad choice, since he can get you clean sheets, and goals, too. One more player that I think is considerable is Erick "el Cubo" Torres. He has four goals in four games, and he will be playing against an LA team that is winless so far, and will be playing for a changed Chivas USA team. Other picks would include Marco Di Vaio, Mauro Diaz, Kenny Miller, or Mauro Rosales. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round.

Soccer Blog - Week 4

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another post of Super Soccer Ian. We had another exciting week, and there were some pretty big wins and losses. Let's take a look at the results!

Recap

The first game of the round was between the NE Revolution and Vancouver Whitecaps, which resulted in a 0-0 draw. Believe it or not, the Revs are still looking for their first goal of the season! Real Salt Lake tied with the LA Galaxy 1-1, and Toronto FC beat DC United 1-0. The Colorado Rapids beat the Portland Timbers 2-0 and the Columbus Crew won 2-1 against the Philadelphia Union. FC Dallas beat Chivas USA 3-1, and Sporting KC won 1-0 against the SJ Earthquakes. The Chicago Fire tied 1-1 with the NY Red Bulls, and finally, the Seattle Sounders won 2-0 on the road against the Montréal Impact. Those were the results from Week 3, and now, let's take a look at the upcoming fixtures.

Upcoming Matches

Only one team has a bye in Week 4, and that's the LA Galaxy. First up, DC United will host the Chicago Fire, who have Mike Magee back in their lineup. The Montréal Impact will travel to play the Philadelphia Union, and the Colorado Rapids will host Sporting KC. The Vancouver Whitecaps will play the Houston Dynamo, and FC Dallas will play the Portland Timbers. Real Salt Lake will host Jermain Defoe and Toronto FC. The Seattle Sounders will play the Columbus Crew, and the SJ Earthquakes will host the NE Revolution. The final game of the round will be between the NY Red Bulls and Chivas USA. Those are the upcoming fixtures, and now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips.

MLS Fantasy Tips

At this point in the season, you should definitely be taking a look at which players' values are increasing or decreasing. This can strongly affect your team's overall value. One player that I think can get you points based on his recent performance and upcoming schedule is Mauro Díaz on FC Dallas. He scored a beautiful free kick against Montréal, and I think that he can get you assists, along with goals. Another player that might not be a bad choice would be Jeff Larentowicz. The Chicago Fire are playing DC United, and Larentowicz is a very strong force in the defensive midfielder position, and he might possibly get a goal, since he scored against DC United last season. A player that I would actually suggest trading is Diego Valeri. He had an excellent season last year, but his value is going down, and he hasn't done anything yet. He is worth $10.4 million, and that kind of money can easily get you somebody else that would continue to get you points, such as Mauro Rosales or Kyle Beckerman. That's my advice for this upcoming round with MLS Fantasy.

Soccer Blog - Week 3

Hello, everybody, and welcome to the latest edition of Super Soccer Ian. We had a pretty exciting week, and an impressive debut for Jermain Defoe and Toronto FC in the 2014 season. Firstly, I'll be mentioning the results of Week 2's games.

Week in Review

In the second week of the 2014 season, we started things off with a 1-1 draw between the NY Red Bulls and Colorado Rapids. Then, there was a 1-0 win for the Philadelphia Union over the NE Revolution. Toronto FC won their first game of the season on the road against the Seattle Sounders 2-1, thanks to two goals from Jermain Defoe in his first game for Toronto FC. The Houston Dynamo won 1-0 over the Montréal Impact, and Sporting KC tied with FC Dallas 1-1. San Jose Earthquakes also tied with Real Salt Lake 3-3, and Portland tied 1-1 with the Chicago Fire. The final game of the weekend was the match between 10-men Chivas USA and the Vancouver Whitecaps, which resulted in a 1-1 tie, as well. There were lots draws this weekend. Now, let's take a look at the upcoming schedule in Week 3.

Week Three Preview

The first game of Round 3 will be the NE Revolution hosting the Vancouver Whitecaps. Then, Toronto FC will host DC United, and the Montréal Impact will host the Seattle Sounders. Real Salt Lake will play the LA Galaxy, and the Colorado Rapids will play the Portland Timbers. The Columbus Crew will host the Philadelphia Union, and FC Dallas will host Chivas USA. The San Jose Earthquakes will travel to play Sporting KC, and lastly, the Chicago Fire will play host to the NY Red Bulls. Those are the upcoming fixtures, and finally, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips for this upcoming weekend.

Fantasy Tips

With MLS Fantasy, there are teams playing with some pretty big Fantasy point earners, all except for the Houston Dynamo. One matchup to pay attention to is the DC United playing Toronto FC. One player that you should definitely consider adding to your squad if you haven't is Jermain Defoe. He scored twice against Seattle, and DC had poor defense against Columbus, meaning that he might be able to put in a few goals for you and rack up points for you. I think that Obafemi Martins or Clint Dempsey would be great picks against Montréal. Remember, Marco Di Vaio and Andrés Romero are suspended for this game by the MLS Disciplinary Committee, so you probably shouldn't expect very many goals, if any, from the Impact. One player that everybody should also consider is Mauro Díaz for FC Dallas. His team are playing at home against Chivas USA, and the young designated player put in an excellent performance in the home opener against the Montréal Impact. Other players to consider would be Mauro Rosales, Christian Maidana on Philadelphia, Federico Higuaín, or Gastón Fernández on the Portland Timbers. They would all be great picks. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming weekend.

Good luck with your MLS Fantasy, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next week, after the exciting and impressive performances in Week 2. Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

Soccer Podcast - Week 2

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another episode of Super Soccer Ian. We had quite an exciting first week, with lots of goals! In this upcoming weekend, DC United, LA Galaxy, and the Columbus Crew have byes, and will not be playing. The first game of the weekend is the NY Red Bulls hosting the Colorado Rapids. The Philadelphia Union will be hosting the NE Revolution, who conceded four goals in their first game against the Houston Dynamo. One of the most exciting games will likely be the Seattle Sounders playing host to Toronto FC, with Michael Bradley and Jermaine Defoe. The Houston Dynamo will host the Montréal Impact, and FC Dallas will travel to play Sporting KC. The SJ Earthquakes will host Real Salt Lake, the Portland Timbers will host the Chicago Fire, and the Vancouver Whitecaps will travel to play Chivas USA. I think that there are a lot of exciting games coming up. Now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy picks.

This weekend, you should really pay attention to who's playing and who's not. With goalkeepers, one of my top picks is Stefan Frei. He played a full 90 minutes against Sporting KC, and I think that Seattle have a huge home advantage. Donovan Ricketts wouldn't be a bad choice either, since he's also playing at home. Defenders that you should definitely consider are Norberto Paparatto, DeAndre Yedlin, Corey Ashe, Chad Marshall, or Bobby Burling. They would be great picks. Midfielders that should be on your watch list are Mauro Rosales, Pedro Morales, Mauro Diaz, or Kyle Beckerman. They would be good midfielders that would likely get you lots of points. Lastly, some attacking players that you should consider are Will Bruin, Kenny Miller, Federico Higuaín, or Gastón Fernández. Those would be excellent players that you should add to your Fantasy team if you have the cash. That's all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy, and I think that we have an exciting week of MLS soccer coming up! Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

Soccer Podcast - Week 1

Hello, everybody, and welcome back to this year's first episode of Super Soccer Ian. I'm glad to be back, and the MLS sure had an exciting transfer season! Week one's schedule is pretty exciting. Let's take a look at the upcoming schedule.

Three teams have byes for this week, and they are Toronto, San Jose, and the Colorado Rapids. The first game will be the Seattle Sounders hosting the 2013 MLS Cup Champions, Sporting KC. Then, DC United will host the Columbus Crew, and the New York Red Bulls will travel to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps. FC Dallas will host the Montréal Impact, the Houston Dynamo will host the NE Revolution, and Real Salt Lake will travel to play the LA Galaxy. Possibly one of the most exciting games will be when the Portland Timbers play the Philadelphia Union, and Chivas USA will host the Chicago Fire. Those are the games that will happen in week one. Now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips.

This is the first week of the 2014 season, and the first week for MLS Fantasy! Now is one of your best chances to rack up the points and hit the leaderboards! I would suggest getting Donovan Ricketts on your fantasy team. He had lots of shutouts next season, and they actually have back-to-back home games, and as we know from last season, the Timbers went on a home shutout streak. Another Portland defender that's on my team and that I think will have a great season is newcomer Norberto Paparatto. He's a physical defender with lots of size, and I think that with Valeri's excellent service, he could score from set pieces. Somebody that would be good on your fantasy team would be Obafemi Martins. He's got two home games coming up, and he has actually been predicted to be a 2014 MLS MVP candidate. He is worth quite a bit of money, at $9.5 million. Kenny Cooper wouldn't be bad, either. He's worth $7.5 million, and he'll likely get lots of playing time. Other good players that would be good for week one would be Diego Valeri, Mauro Rosales, Mike Magee, or Robbie Keane. Those are some fantasy tips from me. That's all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy, and I'm looking forward to an excellent 2014 season! Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
