- Last season, their attacking was excellent. They had two very strong strikers, Federico Higuaín and Dominic Oduro. Higuaín finished the season with eleven goals and nine assists, and he was one of their most important playmakers. Oduro finished the season with thirteen goals and four assists, and he was a Golden Boot Candidate. Columbus’s attacking was excellent, and I think that they shouldn’t make any attacking changes because they attacked so well last year.
- The Crew’s defense last year was not so good. The start of the season wasn’t bad for them, but later on, they started conceding a lot of goals, costing them the playoffs. I think that the Crew may need new defenders added to the team so that they can defend better and not concede so many goals.
- With the midfield, I think it was okay. They finished the season with only 31 assists, which put them in 16th place in the league. I think that the Crew have some good playmakers, but they may need additional midfield players, so that they can complete a strong and sturdy attacking threat.
It was a tough year for the Crew who are still looking for a new coach. Those are my thoughts about the Columbus Crew in the 2013 season. I think that the team can improve and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make the playoffs next season. Next time, I’ll have a three tips page on DC United.
