Three Tips - Colorado Rapids

Three Tips: Colorado Rapids

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Super Soccer Ian. This time, I’ll be noting three tips for the Colorado Rapids that will help them out next season and get more points.

  1. Colorado’s attacking was excellent this season, even though they were in 11th place in the league with goals scored. I think that the addition of Deshorn Brown helped the team greatly, and he finished the season with ten goals and four assists. I think that if Colorado gets another goalscorer for their team, then they’ll have an excellent attacking threat.

  1. Their midfield this season was very good, especially with the Rookie of the Year winner Dillon Powers. They also had Vicente Sánchez, who made the midfield very dangerous. I think that their midfield was pretty good last season, and I don’t think that anything really needs to be changed, except for that they didn’t have as many assists last season.

  1. Colorado’s defense has been pretty good. They had some big point earners last season, especially in MLS Fantasy. Now, the Colorado Rapids added Marc Burch, who was traded from the Seattle Sounders FC. I think that their defenders have been very important for the team, like Chris Klute and Drew Moor. I think that Marc Burch will definitely add some good defensive and midfield presence.

That’s all for today, folks! Those are my tips for how Colorado’s season can be improved. If they can make their whole team sturdy and aggressive, then I wouldn’t be surprised to see them win a second MLS Cup title! Thanks for reading, and I’ll be back next time for a three tips page on FC Dallas!

Episode 10 - 2013 MLS Awards

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Super Soccer Ian. This time, I'll be talking about the given awards of the 2013 MLS Season. Currently, the MLS Cup finals are not far away! Sporting KC will play Real Salt Lake. Write it down! Now, let's take a look at the awards that have been given in the 2013 MLS Season.

We'll start with the Rookie of the Year Award. The three finalists were DeAndre Yedlin for the Sounders, finishing the season with one goal and two assists, Dillon Powers for the Colorado Rapids, with five goals and six assists, and Deshorn Brown for the Colorado Rapids, with ten goals and four assists. The 2013 Rookie of the Year winner was Dillon Powers. I think that he deserved the win. He has provided a strong attacking threat and has made many plays for the team. I think that he has a great future in the MLS. Deshorn Brown came in second, and he was a very big attacking threat for his opponents. He scored ten goals and tallied four assists, which are some big numbers for a rookie. DeAndre Yedlin came in third with one goal and two assists, but provided lots of speed and defensive strength for the Sounders. He even made the US U-20 team and the MLS All Star squad. Anyways, Dillon Powers won Rookie of the Year, and I think he deserved it. Now, let's take a look at the MLS Defender of the Year Award.

The three finalists for the MLS Defender of the Year Award were Jose Goncalves, Matt Besler, and Omar Gonzalez. The 2013 MLS Defender of the Year winner was Jose Goncalves. He has provided a very sturdy defense and has helped the Revolution earn many clean sheets during the season. He started all thirty-four games of the season and scored two goals from set pieces. He has been a very important player for the Revolution. I think that he deserved the award. Matt Besler was another candidate, and he has provided both the USMNT and Sporting KC with lots of strength and ball winning abilities. He started twenty-three games during the 2013 Season and tallied two assists. The other candidate was the LA Galaxy's Omar Gonzalez. He scored once from a set piece and provided two assists. He won the 2009 MLS Rookie of the Year Award and was also named the 2011 MLS Defender of the Year. In 2013, he was also named a designated player. He has provided a strong presence in the back for both the USMNT and the LA Galaxy. Jose Goncalves was the winner, and I think he deserved it. Now, let's take a look at the MLS Fair Play Award.

The MLS Fair Play Award went to the LA Galaxy. The team did play fairly, and they didn't get very many red or yellow cards. I think that Bruce Arena and the LA Galaxy deserved the award. The award also goes to a player that plays fairly and doesn't get bookings very often. The winner of the 2013 MLS Season was Darlington Nagbe for the Portland Timbers. He finished the 2013 Season with only one yellow card. In fact, that's the only booking he's ever gotten so far in his three-year MLS career. I think that he deserved the award for only getting one yellow card and because he's been an excellent playmaker and team player in his career. Darlington Nagbe I think deserved the award, and I think the same for the LA Galaxy.

That's all for today, folks! Those are the awards that have been announced, and soon, we'll be finding out the winners of the Coach of the Year Award, MLS MVP, MLS Newcomer of the Year, and the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year awards. We'll also find out the winners of the MLS Goal of the Year, and MLS Save of the Year. I'm voting Camilo's bicycle goal against the Portland Timbers for Goal of the Year and Donovan Ricketts's double save against the Whitecaps in the same game for the Save of the Year. Those are the awards that have been awarded, and I'll be back next time for another episode of Super Soccer Ian. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

2014 Season Preview - DC United

Hello everybody and welcome to Super Soccer Ian. This time, I’m going to be noting three tips about DC United that would help them make the playoffs next year and get more wins. This is the fourth of the series, and I’ve noted tips for Chivas USA, Chicago Fire, and the Columbus Crew.
  1. Last year, their attacking was not super good. They finally started to score some goals towards the end of the season, but at the beginning, they barely scored any at all. Dwayne De Rosario’s contract is up with DC United. I think that because he’s a designated player, and Eddie Johnson might be leaving the Sounders, that they may trade De Rosario for Johnson. I think that they may need an additional attacker or two.
  2. DC’s defense last year was not good at all. They conceded a lot of goals in games, and their average of conceding was about two per game. I think that DC United will need at least two new defenders so that they won’t concede so many goals. If they can get a couple of additions to the defense, then I wouldn’t be surprised to see DC get more shutouts next season.
  3. The team’s midfield was okay. I think that it was their midfield that was making most of the plays. Jared Jeffrey has been important in the club, and he was able to score from distance, and Dwayne De Rosario was pretty good last season, too. De Rosario finished the season with three goals and two assists. Jared Jeffrey finished the season with two goals, playing only ten games. I think that the club’s midfield wasn’t that bad last season, but they may need a midfield addition so that they can complete a sturdy attacking threat and score more goals.
Those are my thoughts about how DC United can improve for next season. I personally think that DC United might need a new coach. Ben Olsen has been good in the past, but DC’s 2013 season was not good at all. I think that maybe if they got a new coach, then the team may improve a little more. If the team can get some new additions and improve, then I wouldn’t be surprised to see them have a go at a fifth MLS Cup title. That’s all for today, folks! Thanks for reading, and I’ll be back next time for a three tips page on the Colorado Rapids!

2014 Season Preview - Columbus Crew

Hello everybody and welcome to Super Soccer Ian. This time, I’m going to be noting three tips about the Columbus Crew that would help them make the playoffs next year and get more wins. This is the third of the series, and I’ve noted tips for Chivas USA and the Chicago Fire.

  1. Last season, their attacking was excellent. They had two very strong strikers, Federico Higuaín and Dominic Oduro. Higuaín finished the season with eleven goals and nine assists, and he was one of their most important playmakers. Oduro finished the season with thirteen goals and four assists, and he was a Golden Boot Candidate. Columbus’s attacking was excellent, and I think that they shouldn’t make any attacking changes because they attacked so well last year.
  2. The Crew’s defense last year was not so good. The start of the season wasn’t bad for them, but later on, they started conceding a lot of goals, costing them the playoffs. I think that the Crew may need new defenders added to the team so that they can defend better and not concede so many goals.
  3. With the midfield, I think it was okay. They finished the season with only 31 assists, which put them in 16th place in the league. I think that the Crew have some good playmakers, but they may need additional midfield players, so that they can complete a strong and sturdy attacking threat.

It was a tough year for the Crew who are still looking for a new coach. Those are my thoughts about the Columbus Crew in the 2013 season. I think that the team can improve and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make the playoffs next season. Next time, I’ll have a three tips page on DC United.

2014 Season Preview - Chicago Fire

Hello everybody and welcome to Super Soccer Ian. I’m going to be noting three tips about the Chicago Fire that would help them improve and make the playoffs next season. This is the second of the series, in case you missed the one about Chivas, click here.

  1. The start of the season was slow for the Fire until Mike Magee arrived. When he did, their attacking was absolutely incredible. He became one of the Golden Boot Award candidates, but lost to Camilo Sanvezzo by a goal. I think that they should have a brighter start to 2014 season now that Magee should start at the beginning of the 2014 season.
  2. The Fire’s defense improved over the course of the season. Bakary Soumaré joined the Fire during the season, and he has provided a strong presence in the back. At the beginning of the season, the team conceded a lot of goals. By the middle of the season, they started to score goals, rather than concede. I think that goalkeeper Sean Johnson is very important to the team because they concede most of their goals when he is absent. I think that the Fire may need one more strong defender so that their defense won’t concede quite as many goals, even with the absence of Sean Johnson.
  3. The Fire’s midfield was good this season, and the team tallied 39 assists in the 2013 season, finishing in 12th place with assists. I think that Jeff Larentowicz, Dilly Duka, and Joel Lindpere were very important presences in the midfield role. Mike Magee has also done well in the forward position, previously being a midfielder for the LA Galaxy. I think that their midfield doesn’t currently need any additions, since their midfield was excellent last season.

Those are my three tips for how the Chicago Fire can improve next season. Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Fire in the playoffs of 2014. We’ll see what Frank Yallop can do next season. Next time, I’ll have a three tips page on the Columbus Crew.

2014 Season Preview - Three Tips for Chivas USA

Hello everybody and welcome to Super Soccer Ian. At this time, I’m going to be noting three tips for each team that would help them make the playoffs next season. First, we’ll start with Chivas USA.

  1. Attacking has gotten quite good with the new addition of Erick Torres. Their attacking has improved greatly. Now that they’ll have him for the start of the next season, I think that Chivas will score more goals and they will move up in the standings.
  2. Defense has gotten better with Carlos Bocanegra. I think that Dan Kennedy is a very important presence in the back, and Chivas concede a lot of goals without the veteran goalkeeper. I think that if one more strong defender were added to the club, then they would certainly be both an attacking and defensive threat.
  3. The midfield was better last season, with the new addition of Edgar Mejía and Carlos Alvarez. I think that the club may need another midfield player just so that they can complete an attacking threat.

Those are my thoughts about how Chivas can improve next season. Next time, I’ll have a Three Tips page about the Chicago Fire! Thanks for reading!

Episode 9-Conference Finals

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Super Soccer Ian. There were some big wins and losses in the last round, and the next round will determine who gets a spot in the MLS Cup Final. The next week could be the most important one in the playoffs. The MLS Cup Final is not far away! Now, let’s take a look at the recent scores and results.

There were only two games in the last round. Sporting KC travelled to play the Houston Dynamo, and the Portland Timbers travelled to play Real Salt Lake. Those are the only four remaining teams. The first game was a 0-0 draw between the Houston Dynamo and Sporting KC.  The next game was an exciting 4-2 win for Real Salt Lake over the Portland Timbers. With the Dynamo and Sporting KC game, just one goal can win a team a spot in the final. With the Timbers and Real Salt Lake, the Portland Timbers need to win by at least three. Now, let’s take a look at the MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round.

In the games coming up, the majority of your players I think should be on Sporting KC. I think that somebody like Aurélien Collin, Claudio Bieler, or Graham Zusi would be good. If you wanted somebody on Houston, which I do not recommend, then I would maybe choose Giles Barnes, Will Bruin, Tally Hall, or Oscar Boniek Garcia. I think that somebody on the Portland Timbers might not be bad, since they do well at home. I think that Diego Valeri, Rodney Wallace, or Ryan Johnson would be good. Somebody that I think would be good would be Pa-Modou Kah. He is inexpensive and I think that he can rack up points. Somebody like Javier Morales or Joao Plata wouldn’t be bad, either. Real Salt Lake still scores on the road, but Portland defends very well at home. I think that that will be a very close game. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this week, and that’s all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy and I’ll be back next week for another episode of Super Soccer Ian. Thanks for listening and have a great day!

Episode 8 - Conference Semifinals

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Super Soccer Ian. During the playoffs, we had some big wins and eliminations. The MLS Cup finals are not far away! This year, it’s been pretty close in terms of who’s going to win the cup. Now, let’s take a look at the recent scores and results.

We’ll start with the first matchup between Sporting KC and the New England Revolution, which the Revs won 2-1 at home. The Seattle Sounders hosted their biggest rival, the Portland Timbers, and the Timbers won 2-1. Houston and New York tied 2-2 at BBVA Compass Stadium, and the LA Galaxy won at home 1-0 over Real Salt Lake. Moving on to the next weekend, the Houston Dynamo won 2-1 against the New York Red Bulls, eliminating the Red Bulls. Sporting KC won 3-1 against the New England Revolution, eliminating the Revs. Real Salt Lake won 2-0 in overtime against the LA Galaxy and The Portland Timbers beat the Seattle Sounders  3-2 in an exciting game. The two upcoming matchups will be the conference finals. The Houston Dynamo will host Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake will host the Portland Timbers. Those are the scores and the upcoming matchups. Now, let’s take a look at the MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round.

In the games coming up, you should probably choose the majority of the players on your team from the home teams playing. I think that somebody like Giles Barnes, Will Bruin or Corey Ashe might me good. If you wanted somebody on Sporting KC, then I suggest that you get somebody like Aurélien Collin, Graham Zusi, or Claudio Bieler. The only other matchup this upcoming round will be the game when Real Salt Lake hosts the Portland Timbers. I think that somebody like Nick Rimando, Javier Morales, or Álvaro Saborío would be good. If you wanted somebody on the Portland Timbers, which I don’t recommend, then I would maybe choose Diego Valeri, Rodney Wallace, Pa-Modou Kah, or Darlington Nagbe. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round, and that’s all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy and I’ll be back after the next round for another episode of Super Soccer Ian. Thanks for listening and have a great day!

Episode 7 - First Leg of Playoffs

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Super Soccer Ian. Earlier this week, we had some pretty big wins and losses. The MLS Playoffs have become very intense. There were only two games in this leg. The Seattle Sounders hosted the Colorado Rapids, and the Houston Dynamo hosted the Montréal Impact. There were some big results. Now, let’s take a look at the final scores and results.

The first game of the leg was the matchup between the Seattle Sounders and the Colorado Rapids. The Sounders scored twice to make it a 2-0 win, eliminating the Colorado Rapids. The biggest news of that game is the red card for goalkeeper Michael Gspurning. He will be suspended for the next match against the Portland Timbers. The other match was the Houston Dynamo and the Montréal Impact. The Houston Dynamo won 3-0, eliminating the Montréal Impact from the playoffs. In that game, there were a whopping three red cards given all to the Impact. Nelson Rivas, Marco Di Vaio, and Andrés Romero all got sent off. Montréal finished the game with only eight men. The next match will be between the New England Revolution and Sporting KC. Seattle’s next match will be at home against the Portland Timbers. Then, Houston will host the New York Red Bulls. The LA Galaxy will play Real Salt Lake. After that, the Red Bulls will host the Dynamo, Sporting KC will host the New England Revolution, and the LA Galaxy will travel to play Real Salt Lake. The final game of the next round will be the Portland Timbers hosting the Seattle Sounders. That’s the upcoming schedule in the MLS Playoffs. That’s all for today, folks! I think that an exciting week is coming up, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens. Thanks for listening and have a great day!

Click here to listen to this week's review

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Super Soccer Ian. Last round, we had some big, big wins and losses in terms of playoff hopes and jockeying for position. The playoff spots have now been confirmed, and the first leg takes place on October 30 and 31. The teams on the eastern conference that made the playoffs are the New York Red Bulls, who have also clinched the Supporter’s Shield, Sporting KC, New England Revolution, Houston Dynamo, and the Montréal Impact. The Chicago Fire were eliminated because of the loss to the Red Bulls. The Philadelphia Union was eliminated, too. They lost to Sporting KC 2-1 late on. That’s what’s happening during the playoffs. Now, let’s take a look at the upcoming schedule.

The first game in the first leg will be on October 30, when the Colorado Rapids travel to take on the Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field. The second game in the first leg will be on October 31, when the Houston Dynamo hosts the Montréal Impact at BBVA Compass Stadium. The second leg will start with the matchup between the New England Revolution and Sporting KC. It will take place on November 2 at Gillette Stadium. The second game of the second leg will be the LA Galaxy hosting Real Salt Lake at StubHub Center. That game will take place on November 3. Those are the upcoming games, and the matches after that will be confirmed from the results. Now, let’s take a look at the MLS Fantasy picks.  During the MLS Cup playoffs, you get unlimited transfers and you can pick as many players from a certain team as you want. I think that somebody like Lamar Neagle or Eddie Johnson would be great choices. Clint Dempsey is considerable, too. If you wanted somebody on Colorado, then maybe Drew Moor, Deshorn Brown, or Gabriel Torres would be good.   Real Salt Lake is traveling to play the LA Galaxy, and somebody like Robbie Keane, Landon Donovan, Omar Gonzalez, or Jaime Penedo would be good to have. If you wanted somebody on Real Salt Lake, then Álvaro Saborío, Joao Plata, Nick Rimando, or Javier Morales would be good choices. In the second leg, there are two matchups. With the matchup between the Montréal Impact and the Houston Dynamo, I think that Tally Hall, Will Bruin, or maybe Oscar Boniek Garcia would be good. If you wanted somebody on Montréal, then Marco Di Vaio would be good, or maybe Hassoun Camara, Patrice Bernier, or maybe Matteo Ferrari. With the New England Revolution and Sporting KC matchup, somebody like Diego Fagundez, Kelyn Rowe, or Jose Gonçalves would be good. If you wanted somebody on Sporting KC, then Aurélien Collin, Soony Saad, Jimmy Nielsen, or Graham Zusi would be good choices. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks. Now, let’s take a look at the 3 Goal Monte picks.

With 3 Goal Monte, I’m not even sure if it’s still going on or not. I’m used to making the picks, but I think it’s over for the year. So, I’ll just make my picks based on this weekend, as if it were a normal round. With the Sounders game, I would choose somebody like Eddie Johnson or Lamar Neagle. If I made any picks for anybody on Colorado, then I would choose Deshorn Brown or Gabriel Torres. Then, there’s the LA and Real Salt Lake game, and if I were to choose anybody, then I would choose Robbie Keane, Landon Donovan, or maybe Álvaro Saborío or Joao Plata. In the second leg, I would maybe choose Marco Di Vaio, Patrice Bernier, Will Bruin, or Giles Barnes. Giles Barnes would also be a good pick for your MLS Fantasy team. I would maybe choose Diego Fagundez, Juan Agudelo, or maybe Claudio Bieler. Those would be my picks for 3 Goal Monte, and that’s all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy, and may the best team win the MLS Cup! Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Episode 5 - Vipers Stunning Win, Jedi Roll and MLS Soccer Updates

Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Super Soccer Ian. We had some pretty exciting games last round, including two games for me. With my team, the Golden Vipers, we won 7-3 on our first game this weekend, and on our second game, we made a two goal comeback and won the game 4-3 at the end. My brother, Alec, and his team, the Jedi, won their game, too. They won 7-3, and Alec scored three goals. It was an exciting week for my brother and me. Below is a highlight of the game tying goal scored by my friend, Owen.

Now, let’s take a look at what happened this round in the MLS. The first match of the round was the game between Sporting KC and DC United. Sporting KC won 1-0 because of a Dominic Dwyer goal. The Montréal Impact won 2-1 against the Philadelphia Union. FC Dallas won 2-0 against the Seattle Sounders, and the Colorado Rapids won 3-2 against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Gabriel Torres scored twice in that game. The New England Revolution also won 3-2 against the Columbus Crew at home. The Chicago Fire won 1-0 against Toronto FC because of a Mike Magee goal. The Portland Timbers tied at home against Real Salt Lake 0-0, and the Houston Dynamo lost at home 3-0 to the New York Red Bulls. Tim Cahill scored the fastest goal in MLS history, scoring after just eight seconds. There were some big results. Now, let’s take a look at the upcoming schedule.

The next round will be the last of the season. The first game will be Real Salt Lake at home against Chivas USA. Next, the Philadelphia Union will host Sporting KC at home. Toronto FC will host the Montréal Impact, and FC Dallas will travel to take on the San Jose Earthquakes. Chivas will play again, hosting the Portland Timbers. The Houston Dynamo will travel to play against DC United, and the Columbus Crew will play at home against the New England Revolution. The New York Red Bulls will play against the Chicago Fire at home, and the Vancouver Whitecaps will play the Colorado Rapids again, except at home. The final game of the 2013 season will be the Seattle Sounders hosting the LA Galaxy. That’s the upcoming schedule. Now, let’s take a look at the MLS Fantasy picks.

This upcoming round has a lot of matchups, which means that you can get a lot of points. One of my picks this round would be somebody like Javier Morales, since he’s playing at home against Chivas USA. Somebody like Marco Di Vaio would be considerable, I think that Diego Valeri on Portland wouldn’t be a bad choice, either. Somebody I think you should really get on your team would be Will Bruin. In the last meeting against DC United, he scored twice, and he had two assists. Currently, in all of Will Bruin’s meetings with DC United, he has scored nine goals in nine matches against DC United. He would be a great choice. I think that somebody for the New York Red Bulls wouldn’t be bad because they’re playing at home. Somebody like Tim Cahill or Jamison Olave would be good. Somebody on the Sounders might not be that bad of a choice, either, since they’re playing at home. I think that somebody like Lamar Neagle or DeAndre Yedlin might be good, since they are both pretty big point earners. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this week.

Now, let’s take a look at my 3 Goal Monte picks. There are some pretty good matchups this upcoming round that could score you points in 3 Goal Monte. Again, I think that somebody on Real Salt Lake would be good, since they do well at home. I also think that Marco Di Vaio can get a goal or two against Toronto FC. He would be a great choice. My main pick this week would be Will Bruin. Like I said, he does well against DC United, and DC’s defense has given up a lot of goals, so I think that he can get a goal or two. Another pick that I think would be good would be Camilo at home against the Colorado Rapids, or maybe Clint Dempsey or a striker for the Seattle Sounders at home against the LA Galaxy. This round is a great one for getting lots of points on MLS Fantasy and 3 Goal Monte. Those are my picks for this week, and that’s all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy and 3 Goal Monte, and I’ll be back next week for another episode of Super Soccer Ian during the playoffs. Thank you for reading and have a great day!

Episode 4 - The Playoff Push

Click here to listen to this week's review

Hello everybody and welcome to Episode 4 of Super Soccer Ian. We had some pretty big matches last round, and there were some pretty big results. The first match of the round was between the Houston Dynamo and Sporting KC. The game produced nothing but a 0-0 draw. The San Jose Earthquakes beat the Colorado Rapids 1-0 because of a Chris Wondolowski goal. The Sounders lost to the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-1 at home, which was pretty bad for them. The Montréal Impact were also beaten at home by the New England Revolution. It was a 1-0 loss. The Philadelphia Union tied 1-1 with DC United, and Jack McInerney ended his goal-scoring drought. FC Dallas fell 3-2 to the Chicago Fire, and the Sounders lost on the road 1-0 to the Portland Timbers. Now, let’s take a look at next week’s matchups.

The first game will be the LA Galaxy versus the Montréal Impact, at StubHub Center. Sporting KC will host DC United, and the Impact will host the Philadelphia Union. This time, the Montréal Impact have a double header, as well as the LA Galaxy. FC Dallas will host the Seattle Sounders, and the Vancouver Whitecaps will travel to Colorado to take on the Rapids. The New England Revolution will host the Columbus Crew, and Toronto FC will travel to Chicago to take on the Fire. The Portland Timbers will host Real Salt Lake, and the Houston Dynamo will take on the New York Red Bulls. The final game of the round is the California Clasico, the LA Galaxy versus the San Jose Earthquakes. Now, let’s take a look at the MLS Fantasy picks for this coming round.

If you are an MLS Fantasy member, then you should definitely consider choosing somebody on the Montréal Impact, since they have two games this next round. So, I suggest you choose somebody like Marco Di Vaio because he can definitely rack up points, no matter who he’s playing against. Also, you can consider somebody such as Mike Magee or possibly Sean Johnson. The Fire are hosting Toronto FC, and I think that Magee can score a goal or two against them. With Sean Johnson, Toronto FC is a team that hasn’t scored a lot of goals, and I think that you could expect a shutout for Chicago. Like I said about Montréal, you should also consider somebody on the Galaxy, since they have two games this weekend, as well. Somebody really to consider this week would be Aurélien Collin at home, against DC United. He is a strong defender and also a threat in front of goal. Anybody on Sporting KC would be considerable, such as Jimmy Nielsen, Soony Saad, or Claudio Bieler. They are great choices. Now, let’s take a look at the 3 Goal Monte picks for this coming round.

With 3 Goal Monte this round, I think that there are some pretty good matchups to rack up points. I think, that somebody on Sporting KC would be good, such as Claudio Bieler, or possibly Soony Saad. Marco Di Vaio, at home, against the Philadelphia Union would be a great choice. I think you could expect a goal or two from him. Last time the Impact took on the Union at home, it was a 5-3 win, and Marco Di Vaio had a hat trick. I think that Mike Magee would be a great choice, or maybe a striker for New England, such as Diego Fagundez. A striker for the LA Galaxy would be considerable, I think. Those are my picks for this coming round. That’s all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy and 3 Goal Monte, and I’ll be back next week for the next episode of Super Soccer Ian!

Episode 3 Vipers, Jedi, and Review

Hello everybody and welcome to another week of Super Soccer Ian. We had quite an exciting week, and there were some pretty big wins and losses. I play on a soccer team called the Golden Vipers, and my team had a pretty big tie. We tied 4-4, and we made a three goal comeback. It was pretty exciting. My brother, Alec, played on his soccer team, the Jedi, and he won 5-3, scoring four goals. It was pretty much an exciting week for everybody. Now, this round, let’s take a look at the scores and results.

We had some pretty vital wins and losses this round, and a couple of wins turned out to be total routs. A big game was when the Chicago Fire won 3-0 against DC United, and I’m pretty sure most of you are surprised that Mike Magee did not score. I was pretty surprised by it, too. A game between the Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC turned out to be a late show, with a 95th free kick winner by Jose Kléberson. When the Seattle Sounders travelled to Colorado to take on the Rapids, there was a giant 5-1 win for the Colorado Rapids. I believe that the Sounders just weren’t prepared, and it was just a bad game. There was a very big win at StubHub Center between the LA Galaxy and Chivas USA. Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane both scored twice, and had an assist. Some big news right now is with Landon Donovan’s scoring. He is currently tied with Jeff Cunningham with the all-time scoring record, with 134 MLS goals. During the Cascadia rivalry between the Portland Timbers and the Vancouver Whitecaps, there was a 2-2 draw, and there were three goals in ninety seconds, said the commentators. Camilo scored a beautiful free kick goal, plus, an astonishing bicycle kick goal - I've embedded the video below. There were some exciting games last weekend. Now, let’s take a look at the upcoming matches.

We have six byes next week. Chivas USA, LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew, New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, and Toronto FC all have byes. The Seattle Sounders have a double-header next week, with a Wednesday match against the Vancouver Whitecaps, and a road match against the Portland Timbers. The Houston Dynamo will host Sporting KC, and the Earthquakes will play against the Colorado Rapids. The Montréal Impact will host the New England Revolution, and DC United will host the Philadelphia Union. FC Dallas will also host Mike Magee and the Chicago Fire. There are some Cascadia Cup and exciting games coming up! Now, let’s take a look at the MLS Fantasy picks.

If you are an MLS Fantasy member, then you all are probably thinking that this week would be another good week to get a Philadelphia Union striker. Well, Philadelphia only scored one goal in their last game against Toronto FC, but DC United’s defense has conceded more goals than Toronto’s, so I think that you could consider somebody like Sebastien Le Toux, or Conor Casey. Also, I think that you should consider somebody on the Seattle Sounders. They have a double-header this coming week, so they could earn you extra points, since they have one extra game. So, you could possibly consider somebody like Obafemi Martins, if he’s healthy, or Lamar Neagle. Eddie Johnson, for sure, is going to be on the US squad, so you shouldn’t choose him, even though he does well against the Portland Timbers. I think that somebody like Mike Magee would be good this week, even though he’s playing on the road, I think he can score a goal or two against FC Dallas because they have been conceding a lot lately. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks, and now, let’s take a look at my 3 Goal Monte picks.

If you are a 3 Goal Monte member, then I have some suggestions for you. This week, I think that you could consider somebody on Seattle to score against the Vancouver Whitecaps, like Lamar Neagle or Obafemi Martins. I wouldn’t choose anybody to score against Portland, just because Seattle’s playing on the road. You could consider somebody such as Conor Casey to score against DC United, or possibly Sebastien Le Toux or Jack McInerney. Somebody that I think would be a really good choice would be Marco Di Vaio. He’s playing at home against the New England Revolution. Last time these two teams played each other, it was at Gillette Stadium, and Di Vaio scored twice. I think that he would be a great choice. Or, like I said, you could choose Mike Magee and see how he does against FC Dallas. Those are my 3 Goal Monte picks for this week, and that’s all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy and 3 Goal Monte, and I’ll be back next week for another episode of Super Soccer Ian!

Episode 2 - Week 32 in Review

Sounders midfielder Brad Evans with my brother, sister and me.

We had some pretty vital wins and losses this round, which were important in terms of playoff pushes. Also, there were some pretty unexpected results. It was an exciting week! Now, let’s take a look at the results!
The first game of the round was the matchup when the Philadelphia Union travelled to Kansas City to take on Sporting KC. The three points went to the Union, who now have playoff hopes. The Montréal Impact tied with the Chicago Fire, and FC Dallas was thrashed by the Columbus Crew 4-2. Both Dominic Oduro and Federico Higuaín had a goal and an assist. Possibly the most unexpected result was the big win for Toronto FC against DC United. Toronto FC won the game 4-1, and it was the first time they had scored four goals since 2011, which was a 4-2 win over the Columbus Crew. One of the most important games this weekend was the matchup between the Seattle Sounders FC and the New York Red Bulls. The two teams tied 1-1. If the Red Bulls had won the game, they would’ve been up top in the country. It ended as a draw, though. The final game of the round, Chivas USA hosted the San Jose Earthquakes, and there was a red card for Steven Lenhart. Soon after that, though, Chris Wondolowski was able to win San Jose the points that they needed, even with ten men. It ended 1-0. Now, let’s take a look at the MLS Fantasy results and tips.

This week in MLS Fantasy, the top point earner was Lovel Palmer on Real Salt Lake. He recorded 12 points, with a clean sheet and an assist. On MLS Fantasy, you should look at the upcoming fixtures. One of them is when the Chicago Fire travel to DC to take on DC United. For that round, it would be a good choice to get Mike Magee on your fantasy team. He scored twice against the Impact, and has scored quite a bit, lately. Somebody you could really consider is Conor Casey. He scored against Sporting KC, and Philadelphia Union’s going to play at home against Toronto FC. Another striker on the Union that you could possibly consider is  Jack McInerney. Even though he’s had a goal-scoring drought, and hasn’t scored in quite a while, he has the game against Toronto coming up, and after that, the Union are traveling to play DC United. He has done well against both of those teams this season. You could consider him, but Conor Casey is also a good choice. If you want to rack up points, then you could get Robbie Keane, with two home games coming up, and he can get points against anybody he plays. Or, you could choose somebody like Aurélien Collin, or Camilo Sanvezzo. They can earn you a lot of points, and both Sporting KC and the Vancouver Whitecaps have good matchups coming up. Now, let’s take a look at the 3 Goal Monte tips.

If you are a 3 Goal Monte member, then this week might be a good one for you. There are lots of good choices to make this week, and you can earn points. When the Chicago Fire takes on DC United, you can choose Mike Magee because he’s had a great season. DC’s defense has given up a lot of goals this year, so Mike Magee would be a good choice. Or, you could take a chance with Jack McInerney or Conor Casey against Toronto. Robbie Keane at home against Chivas USA would be a smart pick because he does well at home, and even though Chivas has gotten better in the back, Robbie Keane can rack up points against anybody in the league. So, with 3 Goal Monte, you should remember to make picks based on the opposition’s defense or whether the team is playing on the road, or not. Last week was an exciting one! That’s all for today, folks! Good luck with your MLS Fantasy and 3 Goal Monte, and I’ll be back next week for Episode 3 of Super Soccer Ian! Thanks everybody for watching, and have a great day!

Soccer Podcast, September 26

Hello everyone, welcome to Ian's Super Soccer Update, where we look at what’s going on around MLS! My name is Ian Forth, and I will be your announcer. First, let’s take a look at this week’s matchups.

So, this week, we’ve got some important games coming up. The Seattle Sounders will face the New York Red Bulls, and both of those teams are battling for the Supporter’s Shield. Another important game is the Portland Timbers versus the LA Galaxy. The Timbers are currently in third place, and the Galaxy can push ahead of them, if they win this game. So, there are some important games this weekend, and there some clashes between rivals and fighting for playoff positions. There are lots of games going on, and the Colorado Rapids are the only team with a bye this weekend. Now, let’s take a look who you should pick this week for Fantasy and 3 Goal Monte.

If you are an MLS Fantasy member, you should keep track of who’s playing on the road. For example, the LA Galaxy are a strong team, and they have some pretty big fantasy point earners. However, they are playing on the road in Portland, and the Timbers have done well at home. Also, watch the matchup between Toronto FC and DC United. If you are looking at that game, and you are a 3 Goal Monte member, you should not get anybody from either of those teams, since they don’t score much. A great pick this week for your fantasy team and for 3 Goal Monte is Camilo on the Whitecaps. He scored twice last week against the Montréal Impact, and has two home games coming up. He is a great pick. Or, you could take a chance with Mike Magee at home against the Montréal Impact, but he is worth a lot of money. So, you could take a chance with him, if you want. With 3 Goal Monte, some of you may choose players based on their attacking, or how many goals they score at home. Instead, you should pay attention to the defense of the opposition, and see how many goals they have given up. Now, let’s take a look at the current standings.

So, with the standings, let’s start with the Eastern Conference. Up top, we have the New York Red Bulls, followed by Sporting KC, who is three points behind. Sporting KC can catch up with the red bulls if they win their game against Philadelphia. At the bottom of the table, there is Toronto FC and DC United, who will both face off this weekend. In the Western Conference, the Seattle Sounders will host the New York Red Bulls, and battle for the Supporter’s Shield. A big game happening is LA Galaxy traveling to Portland. The winner of those games can potentially get to second place. At the bottom of the table, there’s Chivas USA, who’s actually gotten better in the back, with the new additions of Carlos Bocanegra and Erick Torres. That’s all for today, folks! Good luck with your fantasy and 3 Goal Monte! I’ll be back next week, for more of Ian's Super Soccer Update.
