Hello, everybody, and welcome to another article of Super Soccer Ian. This time, I'm posting a special blog about my soccer life this summer. I did the Sounders FC Youth Camp, ran into Eddie Johnson at the Sounders vs Portland game, and competed in the Dungeness Cup tournament.
Sounders FC Youth Camp
I did the Sounders Camp in early July, and it was probably the coolest soccer camp that I've ever done. It lasted for about five days, and on the fourth day, everybody got to meet Sounders striker Kévin Parsemain. I got the camp shirt signed, and I learned more about him on Wikipedia. Apparently, Parsemain is the all-time leading goalscorer for Martinique's national team, tallying 23 goals in 32 appearances. It was really cool to get his autograph. I would recommend the Sounders Camp for any young Sounders fan that loves soccer.
Meeting Eddie Johnson
I went to the second meeting of the 2014 season between the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field. Going to Sounders games is one of my favorite things to do, and it was even better when we ran into a former Sounder. We were just walking around by the club, and then, Eddie Johnson was standing nearby, not wearing Sounders gear, but still rooting on his former team. We got a picture with him, and he's definitely still a fan favorite for lots of Sounders fans because of his success on the pitch, and how he's nice and friendly to the fans off the field. It was really cool to see him at CenturyLink Field.
Dungeness Cup
In the spring, I joined TC United, which is a select soccer team. We recently played in the Dungeness Cup, which marks our second tournament together. The tournament took place in Sequim, Washington, and it was a tough tournament. We won our first game 3-1, and I got the final goal to
seal the win. It marked my first goal for TC United. Our second game was rough, losing 3-0, and then, we played a U15 team, losing by the same score again. While we may not have done excellently, it was still really fun to travel far and play really good teams. I also felt happy that I got that goal that sealed our 3-1 win. Another tournament is just around the corner, and we'll be playing in Gig Harbor.
