Soccer Blog - Week 9

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another blogpost of Super Soccer Ian. We had another exciting week of soccer, including some big wins and tough results. I attended the Sounders and Colorado game, along with their reserve game on Sunday. (Chad Marshall is signing my shirt in the photo.) So, let's get started with the round recap.

Round 8 Results

Things started off on Wednesday with a 4-0 win for the NY Red Bulls over the Houston Dynamo. Bradley Wright-Phillips got his first MLS hat-trick. The next game was a 1-0 win for the Montréal
Impact over the Philadelphia Union. Then, the Seattle Sounders won 4-1 over the Colorado Rapids, and I actually attended the game in person! DC United also won 4-1 over FC Dallas, and the Columbus Crew tied 1-1 with the NY Red Bulls. The NE Revolution won 2-0 over Sporting KC, and Real Salt Lake tied 2-2 with the Vancouver Whitecaps. The SJ Earthquakes won 1-0 over Chivas USA, and the Houston Dynamo tied 1-1 with the winless Portland Timbers. Those are the most recent match results. Now, let's take a look at the upcoming schedule.

Upcoming Schedule

Round 9 will start off with a matchup between Toronto FC and the NE Revolution. Then, the Vancouver Whitecaps will play the SJ Earthquakes at BC Place, and the Chicago Fire will host Real Salt Lake. The LA Galaxy will travel to play the Colorado Rapids, and Clint Dempsey and the Seattle Sounders will host the Philadelphia Union. Chivas USA will host the Houston Dynamo, and the Portland Timbers will host DC United. The NY Red Bulls will travel to play FC Dallas, and Sporting KC will host the Columbus Crew. Those are the upcoming games, and now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips.

MLS Fantasy Tips

In Round 9, there are some good opportunities to get a lot of points. One player that I think might be a good choice is Teal Bunbury. While he's only scored one goal for the Revs, he seems to be playing better, averaging about five points per game. Plus, he's only $6.7 million. Another player that I'm seriously looking at is Dillon Serna on the Colorado Rapids. The rookie had a goal on the road against the Sounders and an assist versus Toronto FC. He seems to be a promising young player, and at just $4.6 million, he's a great deal. I think that by now, Clint Dempsey should be on just about everybody's fantasy team. I'm going to make some changes to get him on my squad. He has averaged about eleven points per game, and Seattle have two home games coming up. He's worth quite a bit at $10.7, but I think that he's worth it. One last tip that I have is to try and get Fabian Espíndola on your team. He has earned an average of about ten points per game, and at just $8.3 million against the winless Portland Timbers, I think that he's a steal. Those are my MLS Fantasy tips for Round 9.

Soccer Blog - Week 8

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another blogpost of Super Soccer Ian. We had another exciting week of soccer, and half of the games resulted in draws, and half of the games resulted in wins. Now, let's take a look at the round results.

Round 7 Results

The games started up on Wednesday, when the New York Red Bulls beat the Philadelphia Union 2-1.
Then, the Chicago Fire tied 1-1 with the NE Revolution, and the Philadelphia Union played again, and drawing 0-0 with the Houston Dynamo. The Colorado Rapids and SJ Earthquakes also tied 0-0, and there was a 2-2 draw between the LA Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps. The Columbus Crew tied 1-1 with DC United, and FC Dallas won the game late 2-1 against Toronto FC. Then, there was a 4-0 win for Sporting KC over the Montréal Impact. Then, Real Salt Lake beat the Portland Timbers 1-0, and the final game of the round was a 2-1 win for the Seattle Sounders over Chivas USA. Those are the most recent results. Now, let's take a look at the upcoming fixtures.

Upcoming Schedule

Toronto FC, Chicago Fire, and the LA Galaxy all have byes next round, and will not be playing. The first game will be between the NY Red Bulls and Houston Dynamo, and then the Montréal Impact will play the Chicago Fire. The Seattle Sounders will host the game against the Colorado Rapids, which I'll actually be attending! FC Dallas will travel to play DC United, and the Columbus Crew will host the NY Red Bulls. The NE Revolution will host Sporting KC, and Real Salt Lake and the Vancouver Whitecaps will clash at Rio Tinto Stadium. The SJ Earthquakes will host Chivas USA, and the round will finish with the Houston Dynamo and Portland Timbers clashing at BBVA Compass Stadium. Those are the upcoming games, and now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips.

MLS Fantasy Tips

In MLS Fantasy, you should be sure to steer clear of Chicago Fire, LA Galaxy, and Toronto FC players, since they all have byes. With the NY and Houston game, I'd suggest getting Lloyd Sam, Ricardo Clark, or Luis Robles. I would suggest getting Clint Dempsey on your team at home against the Colorado Rapids, or Chad Marshall. Mauro Diaz is a player that you could keep on your team, since he can really get points against anybody. However, keep in mind that DC United are undefeated in four games, which is the team that FC Dallas face on the road. Other players that I suggest getting would be Dom Dwyer, Aurélien Collin, Kyle Beckerman, or maybe Maurice Edu. There are lots of excellent choices and opportunities out there for you. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round.

Soccer Blog - Week 7

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another blogpost of Super Soccer Ian. We had another exciting round, and there were quite some big results. One big event that I saw was the shove by Giancarlo Gonzalez on Chris Wondolowski. He shoved him for no reason at all, and then fell down when Wondo put a hand to his chest. I think that Gonzalez may see a 3-5 game suspension by the MLS Disciplinary Committee. Now, let's take a look at the round's results.

Week 6 Results

Things started off with a 1-1 draw between the Chicago Fire and Montréal Impact. Then, there was a 2-2 draw between the Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake. The Colorado Rapids won 1-0 on the road against Toronto FC, and the NE Revolution won 2-0 over the Houston Dynamo. DC United won their first game of the season in a 1-0 victory over the NY Red Bulls, and the Seattle Sounders had a 3-2 road victory over FC Dallas, with more goals from Clint Dempsey. The LA Galaxy beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0, and the Portland Timbers tied 1-1 with Chivas USA. The final game of the round was a 1-1 draw between the Columbus Crew and SJ Earthquakes. Those are the most recent results, and now, let's take a look at the upcoming fixtures.

Upcoming Schedule

In the next round, no teams have byes. In fact, the Philadelphia Union are playing two games in the upcoming round. The first game will be on Wednesday, and the Philadelphia Union will travel to play the NY Red Bulls. Then, the Chicago Fire will host the NE Revolution, and the Philadelphia Union will once again play, this time, hosting the Houston Dynamo. The SJ Earthquakes will travel to play the Colorado Rapids, and the Vancouver Whitecaps and LA Galaxy will clash at BC Place. The Columbus Crew will host DC United, and FC Dallas will host Toronto FC. The Montréal Impact will travel to play Sporting KC, and Real Salt Lake will host the Portland Timbers. The final game of the round will take place at the StubHub Center between Chivas USA and Clint Dempsey and the Seattle Sounders. Those are the upcoming fixtures, and now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips.

MLS Fantasy Tips

In the next round, I see some pretty good match ups with players that could get you a lot of points. One player that I feel pretty comfortable getting on my team is Quincy Amarikwa. He has scored three straight for the Chicago Fire, and he will be playing at home against the NE Revolution. I think that he could get a goal or an assist in that game. Another player to consider adding to your team is Shea Salinas. He has three assists already this season, and with the good aerial threats of Chris Wondolowski and Alan Gordon, I think that he can still continue with his form, even on the road. I would also go with Federico Higuaín on the Columbus Crew. He will be playing at home against DC United. Another player that I have on my team is Mauro Diaz. He has gotten a total of 45 points, and at $8.5 million, I think that he's definitely worth the price. I'm sure that you're thinking which of those two to captain. Well, I'm going with Diaz against Toronto. While Higuaín can get points anywhere, the Crew lost at home 2-0 against Toronto, and I'm not going to risk it. However, they are both good choices for a captain, but this time, I'm going with Mauro Diaz. Other players to consider are Robbie Keane, Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, or Nat Borchers. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round.

Soccer Blog - Week 6

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another blogpost of Super Soccer Ian. We had another exciting week, and there were lots of goals to see, including a hat trick from Clint Dempsey! First, let's take a look at the results from the last round.

Week 5 Results

The first game of the round was the Cascadia Derby between the Portland Timbers and Seattle
Sounders. This thrilling game ended as a 4-4 draw, and Clint Dempsey, like I said, scored a hat trick for the Sounders, completing a two-goal comeback at the end. View the highlights of this game if you haven't because it's something special! Then, the Montréal Impact tied with the NY Red Bulls 2-2, and the Chicago Fire and Philadelphia Union also tied 2-2. Toronto FC won on the road 2-0 against the Columbus Crew, and the Colorado Rapids had a 2-1 road victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. DC United had their first victory of the season in a 2-0 win over the NE Revolution, and FC Dallas won 4-1 on the road against the Houston Dynamo. Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake tied 0-0, and the LA Galaxy won 3-0 on the road against Chivas USA. Landon Donovan's still looking for that record breaking 135th career MLS goal! Those are the most recent results, and now, let's take a look at the upcoming fixtures.

Upcoming Schedule

Things will start off in the next round with a matchup between the Montréal Impact and Chicago Fire. Then, the Philadelphia Union will host Real Salt Lake, and the Toronto FC and Colorado Rapids will clash at BMO Field. The NE Revolution will host the Houston Dynamo, and the NY Red Bulls will travel to play DC United. FC Dallas will host Clint Dempsey and the Seattle Sounders, and the Vancouver Whitecaps will travel to play the LA Galaxy. The Portland Timbers will host Chivas USA, and finally, the Columbus Crew will travel to face the SJ Earthquakes. Now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips.

MLS Fantasy Tips

This week with MLS Fantasy, there are some pretty good matches with good players that could get you a lot of points. With the Montréal Impact and Chicago Fire game, I think that Quincy Amarikwa or Justin Mapp would be good. I also like Harrison Shipp at $5.9 million. He's been taking the set pieces, is inexpensive, and could definitely rack up the Fantasy points. I also think that Kyle Beckerman would be a good pick against the Philadelphia Union, since he's a guaranteed starter. Another player to watch would be Vicente Sanchez. He's the man that will take the penalty kicks, and he also has lots of class with the set piece deliveries. I think that you could probably get Maximiliano Urruti back on your squad. He had an excellent goal and an excellent performance against the Sounders, and the Timbers are playing at home against Chivas USA. Mauro Diaz is also somebody that you should definitely have on your watch list. He has been having a great season, so far, and even though the Sounders will be a tough opponent, he will likely get you some good points, no matter who he plays against. With Federico Higuaín, I think that you should keep him. He will be on the road and playing against the SJ Earthquakes, but after that, he has two home games coming up. The first one is against DC United, and the next one is against the NY Red Bulls. He has a good schedule coming up. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round.
