Soccer Blog - Week 7

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another blogpost of Super Soccer Ian. We had another exciting round, and there were quite some big results. One big event that I saw was the shove by Giancarlo Gonzalez on Chris Wondolowski. He shoved him for no reason at all, and then fell down when Wondo put a hand to his chest. I think that Gonzalez may see a 3-5 game suspension by the MLS Disciplinary Committee. Now, let's take a look at the round's results.

Week 6 Results

Things started off with a 1-1 draw between the Chicago Fire and Montréal Impact. Then, there was a 2-2 draw between the Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake. The Colorado Rapids won 1-0 on the road against Toronto FC, and the NE Revolution won 2-0 over the Houston Dynamo. DC United won their first game of the season in a 1-0 victory over the NY Red Bulls, and the Seattle Sounders had a 3-2 road victory over FC Dallas, with more goals from Clint Dempsey. The LA Galaxy beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0, and the Portland Timbers tied 1-1 with Chivas USA. The final game of the round was a 1-1 draw between the Columbus Crew and SJ Earthquakes. Those are the most recent results, and now, let's take a look at the upcoming fixtures.

Upcoming Schedule

In the next round, no teams have byes. In fact, the Philadelphia Union are playing two games in the upcoming round. The first game will be on Wednesday, and the Philadelphia Union will travel to play the NY Red Bulls. Then, the Chicago Fire will host the NE Revolution, and the Philadelphia Union will once again play, this time, hosting the Houston Dynamo. The SJ Earthquakes will travel to play the Colorado Rapids, and the Vancouver Whitecaps and LA Galaxy will clash at BC Place. The Columbus Crew will host DC United, and FC Dallas will host Toronto FC. The Montréal Impact will travel to play Sporting KC, and Real Salt Lake will host the Portland Timbers. The final game of the round will take place at the StubHub Center between Chivas USA and Clint Dempsey and the Seattle Sounders. Those are the upcoming fixtures, and now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips.

MLS Fantasy Tips

In the next round, I see some pretty good match ups with players that could get you a lot of points. One player that I feel pretty comfortable getting on my team is Quincy Amarikwa. He has scored three straight for the Chicago Fire, and he will be playing at home against the NE Revolution. I think that he could get a goal or an assist in that game. Another player to consider adding to your team is Shea Salinas. He has three assists already this season, and with the good aerial threats of Chris Wondolowski and Alan Gordon, I think that he can still continue with his form, even on the road. I would also go with Federico Higuaín on the Columbus Crew. He will be playing at home against DC United. Another player that I have on my team is Mauro Diaz. He has gotten a total of 45 points, and at $8.5 million, I think that he's definitely worth the price. I'm sure that you're thinking which of those two to captain. Well, I'm going with Diaz against Toronto. While Higuaín can get points anywhere, the Crew lost at home 2-0 against Toronto, and I'm not going to risk it. However, they are both good choices for a captain, but this time, I'm going with Mauro Diaz. Other players to consider are Robbie Keane, Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, or Nat Borchers. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round.

Question of the Week: Which active player currently is sitting on goal #99? Give me your picks in the comment section below, or tweet me up on Twitter @SuperSoccerIan!
