Soccer Blog - Week 6

Hello, everybody, and welcome to another blogpost of Super Soccer Ian. We had another exciting week, and there were lots of goals to see, including a hat trick from Clint Dempsey! First, let's take a look at the results from the last round.

Week 5 Results

The first game of the round was the Cascadia Derby between the Portland Timbers and Seattle
Sounders. This thrilling game ended as a 4-4 draw, and Clint Dempsey, like I said, scored a hat trick for the Sounders, completing a two-goal comeback at the end. View the highlights of this game if you haven't because it's something special! Then, the Montréal Impact tied with the NY Red Bulls 2-2, and the Chicago Fire and Philadelphia Union also tied 2-2. Toronto FC won on the road 2-0 against the Columbus Crew, and the Colorado Rapids had a 2-1 road victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. DC United had their first victory of the season in a 2-0 win over the NE Revolution, and FC Dallas won 4-1 on the road against the Houston Dynamo. Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake tied 0-0, and the LA Galaxy won 3-0 on the road against Chivas USA. Landon Donovan's still looking for that record breaking 135th career MLS goal! Those are the most recent results, and now, let's take a look at the upcoming fixtures.

Upcoming Schedule

Things will start off in the next round with a matchup between the Montréal Impact and Chicago Fire. Then, the Philadelphia Union will host Real Salt Lake, and the Toronto FC and Colorado Rapids will clash at BMO Field. The NE Revolution will host the Houston Dynamo, and the NY Red Bulls will travel to play DC United. FC Dallas will host Clint Dempsey and the Seattle Sounders, and the Vancouver Whitecaps will travel to play the LA Galaxy. The Portland Timbers will host Chivas USA, and finally, the Columbus Crew will travel to face the SJ Earthquakes. Now, let's take a look at my MLS Fantasy tips.

MLS Fantasy Tips

This week with MLS Fantasy, there are some pretty good matches with good players that could get you a lot of points. With the Montréal Impact and Chicago Fire game, I think that Quincy Amarikwa or Justin Mapp would be good. I also like Harrison Shipp at $5.9 million. He's been taking the set pieces, is inexpensive, and could definitely rack up the Fantasy points. I also think that Kyle Beckerman would be a good pick against the Philadelphia Union, since he's a guaranteed starter. Another player to watch would be Vicente Sanchez. He's the man that will take the penalty kicks, and he also has lots of class with the set piece deliveries. I think that you could probably get Maximiliano Urruti back on your squad. He had an excellent goal and an excellent performance against the Sounders, and the Timbers are playing at home against Chivas USA. Mauro Diaz is also somebody that you should definitely have on your watch list. He has been having a great season, so far, and even though the Sounders will be a tough opponent, he will likely get you some good points, no matter who he plays against. With Federico Higuaín, I think that you should keep him. He will be on the road and playing against the SJ Earthquakes, but after that, he has two home games coming up. The first one is against DC United, and the next one is against the NY Red Bulls. He has a good schedule coming up. Those are my MLS Fantasy picks for this upcoming round.
